Cree introduces new eTone LEDs with up to 155 lumens per watt

It is reported that Cree, a global LED epitaxial, chip, package and LED lighting solution, has announced the launch of the new XLamp eTone LED.

According to Cree, the XLamp eTone LED is a chip-on-board (COB) LED with a color rendering index (CRI) of 90 and up to 155 lumens per watt (LPW), which is equivalent to today's standard CRI 80. The efficacy of LED products. This is the industry's highest performance compared to similar COB LEDs of the same color and size. This LED is ideal for applications that require high quality lighting, including retail, museums, high-end commercial and medical.

It is worth noting that for many lighting applications, the typical light quality minimum standard CRI is 80. However, lower CRIs can distort lighting colors and are less aesthetically pleasing, while 90 or higher CRIs represent higher fidelity or accuracy and better lighting quality.

So far, LEDs with a CRI of 90 are mainly used in environments where color quality is critical, including retail and museum lighting. Although LEDs with a CRI parameter of 90 have been on the market for many years, until now, this light quality has resulted in a loss of light output and efficacy compared to low light quality with a CRI parameter of 70 or 80 CRI. Cree said its new eTone LED overcomes this shortcoming and has an LED efficiency improvement of 17% compared to existing LED products with a CRI of 90, with no impact on color quality.
