NEMA incorporates LEDs into high-pole road lighting standards

According to foreign media reports, the American Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), headquartered in Rosslyn, Virginia, has published the American National Standard ANSI C136.18-2018 road and area lighting equipment - high pole side mounted luminaires.

It is reported that the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) committee introduced this standard for outdoor lighting, including the physical, operational, maintenance, and light distribution characteristics required for high-altitude road applications under specified conditions. This version updates the references and adds information covering LED technology.

Kevin Fitzmaurice, chairman of the Georgia Power and Lighting Services and Roads and Regional Lighting (C136) committee, said the standard describes the features that need to be applied to road lighting, which will be installed on the road. The surface is 65 feet tall or even higher on the high pole.
